Prologue A new day dawns over the world of Terra. A unique world that according to the different denizens of the was created by holy powers. Whether it be the passionate and fiery Sol, the god of power and the mountains worshipped by the mighty Dwarves, the level headed though cold Genese, the goddess of wisdom and the oceans worshipped by the mysterious and amphibian Waterfolk, and the playful, Gaia the mother of all life and the goddess of nature who is worshipped generally by all, but is mostly worshipped by the impish Treefolk. These are the dominant powers, but Terra is filled with creatures of all shapes and sizes, magical or non-magical. In their wake, these three deities left a powerful relic that would grant whoever possesed it anything their heart desired. It was called the Trinity from the combined power of these deities.
An age of war erupted from the various races, all vying for dominion over the sacred relic and of Terra. Genese, the goddess of wisdom in her divine wisdom, knew what could happen if the wrong person obtained the Trinity and made sure that it would split into it's three pieces, called 'crests' to remedy this. Soon, three people managed to obtain these pieces of the relic and joined together to make a council in hopes of bringing together the other races. Arcanus, an Elven arcane spellcaster who had obtained the crest of wisdom and insight, Rhianwen the water maiden who obtained the crest of Courage or the will to live, and finally, Lorcán the sorceror who obtained the crest of power and might. These three brought order to the chaos and brought about peace for all of the races. Though not everyone accepted this new rule and a group of people who were masters of the arcane, attempted to seize power the power of the gods of themselves using powerful sorcery. Arcanus and his followers however, made sure to seal away their magic and with the power of the deities banished them into another dimension. All was from then well... Or so they thought.
After centuries of peace and prosperity, Lorcán made a cunning plan to obtain the other two crests. He first started infighting amongst the council through subtle remarks about the other races and their differences making some feel superior while others inferior, making relations between the races strained. While the races were now busy bickering amongst themselves, he used the crest of power to summon forth great and terrible creatures for each of the other main races. A fiery dragon-like serpent of pure, seething hot volcanic rock, a translucent hydra of ice and water, and a masked demon warrior who could call apon carnivirous insects with chants who was also a master with the sword. These aswell as other bringers of destruction laid waste to the world until Arcanus and Rhianwen gathered their followers and came to the aid of Terra.
A fierce war ensued against Lorcán and his followers, prompting a time of everlasting darkness. The war saw many losses, including the death of Rhianwen who fought valiantly to her last breath. Arancus and his followers continued the war with a vengeance and after several decades of war, Lorcán and Arcanus did battle against eachother; power versus wisdom. The two fought relentlessly, casting all manner of spells at the other and summoning their strongest creatures. Then, the two made one final push and Lorcán struck Arcanus down, but with his final breath, Arcanus plunged his sword through Lorcán with every ounce of strength he could muster. The two fell over dead and the monsters that Lorcán had brought into the world slowly became fewer in number as the days went on. It is said that Lorcán became filled with power and let it control him. Without wisdom, he was blind and could not see what he had become until it was far to late to reach him.
Centuries have passed since those times that are now refered to as, the 'time of legends" and the races have managed to remotely coexist together peacefully, but tensions still remain as they now prefer to keep to their own affairs. They trade openly and communicate every so often, but never will they ever be united as one like they had been during the Time of Legends before Lorcán's lust for power interfered. A new horror now slowly arises within the human dominion in the form of what is called Technology. With the invention of the steam engine, all manner of devices of gears and mechanisims began to bloom like a wildfire. The chief problem was discovered when magic was in proximity as a new invention went haywire from a mage being in the same room. Now a new war brews over the horizon. A war involving Technology and Magic, two opposing forces that cannot exist with the other peacefully. They are two very different forces on the same coin. In this war, a savior too will arise to bring order to the chaos and remind people of the old times, but also bring new hopes of change. Which side of the coin will fate have land? Will the followers of Technology that promises change be victorious? Or will the magics that have existed since the beginning of time be victorious?
